Why are you involved with The Epsten Gallery?
I started out as a volunteer for UrbanSuburban, the year Donna and Harriett first co-chaired it, then stayed active after that. At first I was involved just to help out, I thought I could offer a business perspective and I enjoyed volunteering. I really didn’t know much about art and had never really thought about collecting. But I have enjoyed getting to know so many great people through The Epsten Gallery and I’ve learned so much, that I’ve just stayed on.
What are your favorite Epsten Gallery events and programs? Why?
My favorite event is UrbanSuburban, probably because it’s what brought me in. Plus, it’s just a fun time, with great art and wonderful artists. I also love the art crawls because so many interesting people have opened their homes and collections to us, that we might not otherwise have the opportunity to see. The day trip to Omaha was particularly memorable.
What are your expectations for the future of The Epsten Gallery?
I hope to see The Epsten Gallery get more attention in the local art community. Our visibility has been increasing and I hope to see that result in more members, more visitors to the gallery, and more people enjoying contemporary art. We offer a unique experience, due to our location, and I think we continue to serve the KC community by providing quality exhibits and programing for all ages.
