Sylvia was extremely fortunate that her career path allowed her to spend almost five years living and working in Yosemite National Park as the park preservation architect. During which time she spent her free time taking photographs while exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Sylvia has shown and sold her photography and paintings in the Kansas City Metro. Currently she is the Regional Historic Preservation and Fine Arts Officer for the Midwest Region at the General Services Administration. Sylvia spends her free time traveling, painting, volunteering for local organizations, taking pictures and writing short stories. She resides in Kansas City, Kansas in a historic house with her husband Scott and their dogs.
Why are you involved with The Epsten Gallery?
The more art there is, the better society is. With such wonderfully diverse programming and events like Urban Suburban, the Art Crawls, and Exhibition openings, The Epsten Gallery attracts such a diverse audience, which speaks to a better and more connected society.
What are your hopes for the coming year? How do you see The Epsten Gallery serving the greater KC community?
First and foremost, as the newly appointed chair to the Membership Committee, I hope to double our membership in 2011. I also hope that through that process, we can make art more accessible to our supporters and the community.
